Als Juniorenfahrer Jahrgang 1976 hat er 1995 den aktiven Leistungssport beendet, da es keine Perspektive auf eine weitere Entwicklung zum Profisport gab. 2006 kam aber nach vielen Jahren Pause doch wieder Freude am Radfahren auf. Und blieb diesmal.
